This particular wedding was touted by the groom as the wedding of the Festive Season, so I got me my mind prepared to have maximum fun but not with that sense of unbridled passion. Just fun that a brother is finally gonna walk down the aisle with his bae.
The glossy pre-wedding pictures of the couple were splashed on major social media platforms with wet appeal and it was a wedding of the Festive Season so to say and people came to this wedding with high expectations.
I got to the church for the wedding service at 9.30 a.m. as the invite says the service starts by 10.00a.m.
Poor enough, the officiating priests were already there in their glowing and flowing priestly apparels, but the groom and his bride were nowhere about the church. The wait game ensued and the priests’ body language spoke volume but I kept cool even though such needless wait was draining my high expectations from this brother.
Then at 11.00 a.m., they hurriedly waltzed in with the groom leaving his bride by the Western Door. Of course the chief officiating priest didn’t spare them for such a letdown.
From the church service, we beat the perennial traffic bottlenecks in this industrial community of Nnewi with every trace of planlessness staring one in the face. This is calling out the Anambra state government to see to Nnewi getting planned far into the coming centuries. As it is at the moment is a shameful acceptance from our leaders. They can do best for this community and her neighbours.
Then at the Venue of Reception, some dudes of loquacious guts were sounding apprehensive and angry that they should be served drinks fast before the commencement of the reception. This gist got to the latest husband-in-town and he ordered that drinks be sent to the loud guys as they are Nkwo-Nnewi Traders and the biggest financiers of the wedding. The host is one of their own. So I was told when my curiosity got the best of me.
At some point while the dull Comedian who emceed the occasion with dumb jokes no one was willing to laugh at, these Nkwo-Nnewi guys started breaking bottles. It was scary to me, but to my shock, none of the ladies formingsophisticated fainted or screamed out of the hotel venue of the reception. That was when my closest neighbor came up with the explanation that this is how these guys betray their emotions once service rendered them didn’t get to their expectations.
Phew! This is all to my great expectations, I’m not gonna expect much from anyone inviting me to their event again. This is enough!
